10 Years

04.11.2019

Last month, Pal and I celebrated ten years of being together by going away for a week and spending some quality time together.

We decided to go to Centre Parcs in Longleat. Our first ever holiday together was at Centre Parcs when I was celebrating my 21st birthday, and we always have a great time whenever we go.

The main thing I love about Centre Parcs is leaving my car in the car park and getting lost in the forest for a week, surrounded by nature and wildlife. It’s the perfect place to really unwind and reconnect, especially after a stressful few months at work.

We spent the week eating lots of delicious food at the various restaurants (the pancake house is our firm favourite), swimming in the river rapids and enjoying the onsite spa. I really didn’t want to leave, I wasn’t ready to go back to reality!

While we were there, we decided to have a couples photo shoot. There was a photography studio on the site and we both thought it would be nice to have some photos to mark the anniversary. Neither of us are very photo-savvy; I’m usually on the business side of a camera! But when we arrived at the studio, the photographer instantly put us at ease and gave us plenty of instruction throughout.

The shoot was a bit of a whirlwind with so many different poses and angles, 30 minutes flew by! I spent most of the shoot in fits of giggles, my mouth ached afterwards! There were over 100 photos to choose from, so we went through them all and agreed on our favourites.

I really like these back-lit ones. When we were shooting, the room was so light and I had no idea they would come out looking so dark. I think it looks really effective.

I honestly can’t believe how quickly ten years has passed. I remember when we first met, when I was 13 years old, I didn’t think for a second that he would be such a huge part of my life. Even when we were together, I kept telling him that he would soon get bored of me and find someone else.

It’s a wonderful feeling to grow up with someone because you get to grow together and see each other flourish. Watching someone you love go through college, move away to university and graduate, apply for their first ever job and chase their passions, it’s a privilege. I can’t wait for the next ten years and where it may lead us.
