Last year, I wrote a post at the end of each month to reflect on how the month had gone and to set goals for the month ahead. This year, I wanted to do another monthly blog post, but I wanted to change it slightly.
The constant goal setting and ‘pass/fail’ feeling at the end of each month when I assessed whether or not I had completed them became a bit tiresome. So welcome to my new series I’ve dubbed ’12 months of gratitude’ outlining some of the things I was particularly grateful for each month. Let’s jump straight in with…
This month my sister turned 25. I’m not sure how that happened, it really only seems like yesterday that we were just kids! But it did mean that we had a little get together. My mum put on a buffet, everyone gathered at her house and we enjoyed an evening of love and laughter.
I’m really fortunate to have such a lovely group of people surrounding me. They’re strong, funny, supportive, positive, inspiring and comforting, all the things you would want in a family. I’m so lucky to have these people by my side, I never want to take them for granted.
2) The Nest
The nest refers to the life my boyfriend and I have set up for ourselves. It isn’t the house we live in or the pictures on the walls. It’s the laughs we share, the moments we have, our adorable three cats and their antics. It’s the atmosphere of home, and it’s the place I adore coming back to after a long day.
I’m very grateful for the nest. It’s our little place where we can shut the door on the rest of the world and just relax and be content.
3) The Cats
To some people, cats are just those annoying animals that keep using your garden as a toilet. But to me, my three cats mean the absolute world. I look forward to seeing them each morning and when I get home, they’re there to welcome me. They cheer me up when I’m sad, they cuddle me when I’m sleeping, they do ridiculous things that make me laugh and I wouldn’t be without them for the world.
That’s my three points for January, I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you’ll join me again later this month to look back at February! What are you grateful for this month?
