A weekend away…

We spent the first weekend of December at Center Parcs in Sherwood Forest. It’s one of our favourite holiday destinations because you feel like you’re in a little bubble, separated from the rest of the world.

With Christmas just around the corner, the forest was decorated with fake snow, Christmas lights, reindeer and Christmas music. I loved the festive feel, and it really looked beautiful at night.

We spent our time eating out, relaxing in the swimming pool or just resting in our little villa. Sunday the 3rd was my mum’s birthday, so we treated her to a spa day.

My favourite meal of the weekend was this gingerbread pancake stack, it was delicious! So Christmassy!

Being in the forest, we were surrounded by wildlife. Most days we had ducks and squirrels tapping on the patio doors!

I love being so close to nature and seeing the different personalities of the wildlife. I was lucky to get close enough to get some photos.

My favourite spot was the large lake in the middle of the forest. The photographer in me just had to take some photos, especially during a pretty sunset one evening.

On our last night, we went to a firework display. Before the fireworks started there were Christmas carols and lots of excitement to get the children involved. It got me excited for Christmas!

I think you’re never too old to enjoy a fireworks display, and I loved how the reflection of each firework rippled in the lake below.

Here are a few extra photos from our weekend:

This was the wall of one of the restaurants we ate at, and I thought it was adorable. It’s a collection of children’s colourings and it looked so colourful and vibrant.

This is our advent candle! We’ve had one of these for many years now, it has become a tradition for us each December.

That’s about it for this blog post, I hope you had a good weekend!

  1. Hi Holly, I’m glad you enjoyed centre parks but next time try the real thing and its free. You will see and feel the difference when you are immersed in real nature. Take a tent and cook over the fire and listen to the night sounds as you sip your glass of wine while gazing at the stars. Nice post Holly I can see you enjoy to write about your adventures.
